Tagz can be used to create a virtual Keep Out Zone within your house. Once you purchase a Wagz Tagz, you can set it up within the Wagz App. Your dog’s Freedom Collar will detect the Tagz and will issue a correction to his collar whenever the dog enters the Keep Out Zone. Corrections will stop after 30 seconds or automatically when your dog leaves the Keep Out Zone. Think of the Tagz and its corrections as a replacement for you saying “No” or “Off” when your pup goes somewhere you don’t want him to. For best results, it is essential to train your dog to understand the Tagz Keep Out Zone and corresponding corrections.
How should I train my dog for Tagz?
You'll need to do some basic training with your pet to ensure that he understands the new Tagz Keep Out Zone. Bring your dog to the area and use a training command he knows (like "No," "Off," or a tug at the leash) as he gets too close. Lead him away from it and praise him when he is back in a safe zone. Continue repeating this training until your pet understands and reacts consistently. Now, just like you did when you trained your pup on his Freedom Collar, put on the Freedom Collar and do those steps a few more times, using your traditional training command alongside the collar correction. Please note it may take several training sessions for your dog to really understand, but whenever your dog enters this Tagz Keep Out Zone, his collar will issue a correction to reinforce your training.
How big of an area will a single Tagz cover?
During the Tagz setup process, you will set the position and range of your Wagz Tagz. Tagz can be calibrated to create a zone as small as 1 foot or as large as 10 feet. The calibration is approximate and some variability in the exact trigger location is expected. The exact calibration distance may vary with different angles of approach or speed of movement.
Where are some places I can use Wagz Tagz?
A Wagz Tagz can be placed anywhere inside your home to help keep your dog away from certain areas. Some popular areas to ‘tag’ are the bathroom, a litterbox, your desk, a couch, or the guest bed. You can lay Tagz flat or stick it to a wall or other vertical surface using tape or Velcro.
Can Tagz keep my dog off the couch?
With proper training, Tagz can be an effective tool for helping to keep your dog off the couch. Tagz will not automatically keep your dog off the couch though. You’ll need to train him that the couch is off-limits, that he will be corrected if he goes up there, and what that means. There can be a delay of 3-10 seconds from when your dog enters the Keep Out Zone for your Freedom Collar to trigger a correction. This is normal and will still serve as an effective correction for your dog to remind him to leave the Keep Out Zone. Remember, the Tagz is meant to serve as a reinforcement of prior training.
